The assessment body Umalusi has approved the Matric final exam results from November 2024 so they can now be released. As well as the traditional route of getting results through newspapers, it’s possible to find out your results as soon as they're available on the system. This is how you can check your matric results online.

2024 Matric Results Release Date

The organisation that is responsible for checking on the quality of exam results is called Umalusi. This body held a media briefing on Monday morning, 13th January 2025, and they announced that they have concluded their work. They have approved the results of the Matric final exams from November 2024 and they can now be released.

Candidates who sat for IEB exams can receive their results from 15:30 on Monday the 13th January.

It's important to note that your statement of results will be made available by the Department of Basic Education to your examination centre.

This particular statement will stand as an official document while you wait for your matric certificate.

The national Matric pass rate will be announced by the Minister on the evening of the 13th January 2025. Individual results will be available to candidates the next morning. If you visit the school where you wrote the exams you will be receive a full set of your results.

After a court battle between the Basic Education Department and the Information Regulator, it seems that Matric results will be available in newspapers. These are usually available from about midnight on the 13th January.

However, the department has an option available for you to check your results online while you wait for your statement of results or the national release date of all matric exam results.

Step 2: Enter your examination number.
Step 3: More personal details may be required.
Step 4: Press search.
Step 5: Your matric results will now come up.

Get Your NSC Matric Results By SMS

As an alternative to the website the DBE also offers an SMS service to access matric results. This is a good alternative if you do not have data on your phone to be able to access the website.

To use the SMS service:

Write a new text message on your mobile phone.

Include your examination number

Send the message to 45856. The cost of the SMS is R1.50. You will receive the SMS within a minute containing your matric results.

How To Get IEB Matric Results

Visit https://www.ieb-online.co.za/asp/login.aspx.
Enter your exam number and your date of birth.
Ensure that you enter the correct details.
Then click ‘Submit’.
Your results will be displayed on screen.
It can be handy to download your results as a copy until you get your Matric certificate.
