The Education Department has announced that the popular 'teaching assistants' programme will be back and has told young people who want to be part of it to look out for details.

The BEEI was a very popular programme as part of the President Youth Employment Initiative that placed teaching assistants in public schools across the country.  Phase 4 of the scheme ended and there have been repeated calls for the teacher assistants to return.

As well as providing work experience for young people who want to be teachers the BEEI teaching assistant programme also improves classroom conditions by giving teachers extra support in the classroom.

In an official communication from the Basic Education department they communicated that they will 'soon unveil the next phases of the Basic Education Employment Initiative.'

They explained that the programme is aimed at providing young people with soft and hard skills that are relevant to the teaching workplace. Successful applicants will be required to sign a work contract and commit to a job description.

Full details of how to apply for the teaching assistants programme will be published on Careers Portal as soon as they are released.

The Basic Education Department has stressed to the public that the process of applying for the teaching assistants programme is free of charge. People are warned to be wary of scammers who may ask for payments to apply for the scheme.
