The Presidential Youth Employment Initiative will soon enter its fourth phase since it began in December 2020. Stakeholders in the education sector are pleased of the progress that has been made through this initiative and have extended their gratitude to previous participants.

 


The Presidential Youth Employment Initiative (PYEI), introduced by President Cyril Ramaphosa in 2020, is an intervention to assist young people seeking employment. While a number of young people have benefited from this initiative, continued employment through the programme is not guaranteed.


 The Presidential Youth Employment Intervention Phase 3 will be ending in August 2022. The Basic Education Department has also completed the planning for Phase 4 of the intervention.


Thousands of South African youth have benefited from the youth government initiative since its birth in December 2020. Education Assistants have since played pivotal roles in public schools across the country.
