University of the Free State
The University of the Free State, also known as UFS, founded in 1904 is a multi campus public university situated in Bloemfontein which is the capital city of the Free State. With more than 31 000 students enrolled at this university, it is made up of three campuses which offer seven faculties. The three campuses are Bloemfontein Campus (informally known as Main Campus), South Campus in Bloemfontein, Qwaqwa Campus in the Eastern Free State. This university is internationally recognised for human reconciliation and compassion as well as for excellence in academic achievement.

The Central University of Technology, also known as CUT, was established in 1981 and offers contact and distance learning. Over 20 000 students are enrolled across two campuses.
