Nursing Colleges In The Free State
The Free State School of Nursing (FSSoN) offers accredited nursing programmes. These programmes are provided according to the requirements of the South African Nursing Council, Council on Higher Education and South Africa Qualification Authority.
Nursing Intake 2024
FSSoN has three main campuses, based in Bloemfontein, Qwaqwa and Welkom, with each main campus having two sub-campuses.
Nursing Applications For 2024
The following programmes are offered in the main campuses for their nursing colleges:
- Diploma in Nursing (R171)
- Advanced Diploma in Midwifery programmes (R1497).
- Higher Certificate in Auxiliary Nursing (R169) - this programme will be offered at the Eastern Campus and at sub-campuses.
How To Apply To FSSON
In order to apply, you will need to visit the South African e-services portal: https://www.eservices.gov.za/.
In order to make use of the portal and apply, you will need to create an online profile. This can be done by following these steps:
- Once on the home page of the e-services portal, click on ‘education’
- Click on Nursing schools/colleges
- Select Free State School of Nursing
- Click 'continue'
- Click on 'New registration' and follow the prompts
FSSON Online Applications For 2024 For Nursing Colleges
All applications received will be screened by the Free State School of Nursing. Candidates who meet the admission requirements for the Diploma in Nursing (R171) will go through a pre-selection assessment.
The pre-selection assessment may include a Psychometric Test, which will measure the candidate’s mental capabilities, as well as an Academic Literacy Test which will measure the candidate’s ability to read and write.
Candidates who are selected will be required to attach a Police Clearance Certificate, which confirms whether the candidates have a criminal record or not. Once cleared, candidates will receive an SMS or e-mail informing them about dates and venues for the assessments.
