Distance Learning is when a lecturer is separated from their students geographically or in time, or when a student is separated from other students or learning resources.
The methods used by distance learning include online and offline modules, phone consultations with lecturers, and virtual classrooms. Students also have the ability to ask questions over the phone or by email, and will receive lecturer support to help the student understand the material.
Distance Learning is a good option to consider for students who are unable to regularly attend classes, who can study independently, and/or who are employed full-time.
False Bay strives to ensure that distance learning students receive ongoing help and feedback throughout their study period in an effort to make the distance learning experience worthwhile, efficient, and manageable.

Note: In order to access course materials, distance learning students must be computer literate and have access to a computer and the internet. Additionally, students must be able to travel to Cape Town to take the external examination.
