Two teams of learners from Limpopo schools are representing South Africa at the 'Robotics for Good Youth Challenge Grand Finale' in Geneva, Switzerland. 


TVET Students have been complaining for a number of years about the delays in receiving their official certificates after completing their courses.  Now the Higher Education Department has announced plans they claim will speed up deliver and work through the backlog. 


Newly-appointed Deputy Minister for Higher Education and Training, Yusuf Cassim, chose Unisa for his first official visit - to follow up on many complaints received from NSFAS-funded students at the university. 

 


Research has shown that TVET Colleges are producing more artisans, technicians, entrepreneurs, hospitality professionals, and this work is boosting the economy. 


A reshuffle of DA Cabinet Ministers in the GNU has seen a new Deputy Minister sworn in for the Department of Higher Education and Training. Deputy Minister Cassim has thanked those who supported his promotion, and has a message for those who had criticised him online. 


NSFAS applications are open for a two week period, but only for certain courses at TVET Colleges. Prospective students must ensure they apply for the correct funding to avoid disappointment. 


In a media briefing after the day of anti-immigration protests, government leaders described the protests as 'largely peaceful', with only isolated incidents of looting taking place. 


A new programme is being launched to promote the local footwear industry and create employment opportunities for young South Africans. 


The SAPS are using the National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structures (Natjoints) to co-ordinate the work of law enforcement as they monitor protest activities focused on the 30th June national shutdown campaign.  They have promised swift and decisive action where necessary.  

 


There's good news for young people who want to train as artisans, with plans introduced to grow the number of opportunities for them. This all falls under the national plans to bolster infrastructure development.
