Social grants paid by the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) are a lifeline for millions of South Africans, providing vital financial support to fight poverty and ensure basic needs are met. This includes grants such as the Older Persons pension grant, Disability grant, War Veterans grant, Care Dependency grant, Foster Child grant, Child Support grant, Child Support grant Top-Up and Grant-in-aid.
There are approximately 9 million beneficiaries of the SRD grant and 19 million permanent grant beneficiaries.
How Much Will Sassa Grant Payments Be In June?
On 1 April, Sassa increases announced by Finance Minister, Enoch Godongwana, came into effect. These increased Sassa grants are therefore collected in June again.

Sassa Grants To Increase In October
On 1 October, Sassa grant beneficiaries can expect another Sassa grant increase. Here are the Sassa grant increases announced by Godongwana:
- Older Persons grant - R10
- Older Persons (75 years and older) - R10
- Disability grant - R10
- War Veterans grant - R10
- Care Dependency grant - R10
- Foster Care grant - None
- Child Support grant - None
- Child Support grant (Top-up) - R10
- SRD Grant - None
The Finance Minister said, "We are sensitive to the increase in the cost of living for the nearly 19 million South Africans who rely on these grants to make ends meet. In this regard, we have done as much as the fiscal envelope allows."
