The Department of Basic Education (DBE) will release the 2024 National Senior Certificate results on Monday, 13 January 2025. However, a court battle remains underway regarding the publishing of matric exam results in newspapers.

DBE Director of Communication Elijah Mhlanga says candidates will receive matric results on Tuesday, 14 January 2025.

Grade 12 learners can access their results at the exam centre where they wrote their matric exams, online on the DBE website or via SMS.

We are now at the point where we are finalizing the results for the class of 2024 those who set for the national senior certificate we are saying to them the department will uh keep its promise of delivering your results.

Mhlanga praised stakeholders who worked towards ensuring matric results are ready for release in January.

The DBE employed 55,000 markers working at 188 marking centres across South Africa.

We're happy and we thank them for the job well done and we say to them let's do it again this year in 2025 because you have raised the bar in terms of making sure that you participate in a smooth process.

Will 2024 Matric Results Be Published in Newspapers

Mhlanga expressed confidence that 2024 matric results will be published in newspapers. This is despite ongoing court action aiming to prevent results from being published due to fears that the DBE would contravene the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPI Act).

We will do so because there is a court order of 2022 which instructs us to do that after we were taken to court by Afriforum who were successful in their application resulting in that order which instructed the department to publish the result in the newspapers using the exam numbers.
