The North West province is home to one of South Africa's 26 public universities. It is extremely helpful to each step of the application process for this university as it ensures you are well-prepared to embark on your educational journey at NWU.

Students often venture to the North West region to advance their education through enrollment at the sole academic institution in the province, North West University (NWU). NWU offers a diverse selection of high-quality academic programmes across various fields.

These programs cater to a wide audience, including individuals seeking skill enhancement through short courses, undergraduate students pursuing their first qualifications, and experienced academics eager to contribute to their fields. 

NWU boasts eight faculties, each catering to distinct academic interests. The faculties include the Economic and Management Sciences, Education, Engineering, Health Sciences, Humanities, Law, Natural and Agricultural Sciences, Theology, and the NWU Business School.

Step 1: Create your university number

Go to the online application platform.

Click on "Application Login," which will open the Login screen.

Click on "Create a new student number" and complete all the required fields.

Step 2: Log in

Once you receive your student number, use it along with the PIN number you created to log in. Ensure the safekeeping of your student number and PIN as you will need them in the future.

Step 3: Select What You Want To Study

Complete all the required fields. Utilise the yearbooks for more information about qualifications, modes of delivery, and curricula. Explore career options based on your interests using the Interest Index.

Step 4: Upload supporting documents

For Undergraduate Studies: 

To have your application considered, please upload the following supporting documents. Failure to provide all necessary documents may result in the application being declined by the University:

  • Grade 12 results, grade 11 results (final results only), or a copy of your matric certificate if you have already passed matric.
  • Applicants who are currently improving their grade 12 results will only be considered after presenting the improved results to NWU.
  • Applicants following the Cambridge, GED, or any other non-NSC curriculum, or those eligible for exemption based on advanced age or post-school qualifications, must provide an exemption certificate as issued by USAf.
  • Copy of your ID.
  • Copy of your academic record (if applicable).

Additional documents for international prospective students:

  • A copy of relevant results.
  • A copy of your passport.
  • More information on payable fees.

For Postgraduate Studies:

  • Applicants must submit 
  • Copy of their ID.
  • Copy of their academic record (if applicable).

Step 7: Submit Application

After completing all the steps in the application process, ensure that you press the "Submit application" button when you have finished to guarantee that the university receives your application.
