The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has confirmed the grant payment dates for April 2024. These dates confirm when beneficiaries of the various social grants will be paid.

Sassa distributes more than 18 million permanent grants monthly. These Permanent grants include the Older Persons pension grant, Disability grant, War Veterans grant, Care Dependency grant, Foster Child grant, Child Support grant, Child Support grant Top-Up and Grant-in-aid.

While Sassa aims to pay social grants from the second day of the month, this will not be the case in April 2024 due to Sassa's grant payment policy.

Sassa does not distribute grant payments on weekends or public holidays. The month of April 2024 gets underway with a public holiday resulting in beneficiaries receiving their grant payments a day later.

Sassa Grant Payment Dates For April 2024

  • Older Persons Grant - 3 April 2024
  • Disability Grants - 4 April 2024
  • Children's Grants - 5 April 2024

Sassa reminds beneficiaries that once their money has been paid, it will remain in their bank accounts.

There is no need to rush to withdraw cash on the first day. Once the money is in the account, it will remain there until it is needed.

Increased Sassa Grant Payments In April 2024

All permanent grants distributed by Sassa will be increased from April 2024. These grant increases were confirmed during the 2024 Budget Speech.

Older Persons, Disability, War Veterans, and Care Dependency Grants will see a total increase of R100. However, beneficiaries' social grants will only increase by R90 in April with the remaining R10 increase being implemented later this year.

The Foster Child Grant will be increased by R50, taking the monthly amount to R1,180.

The Child Support Grant will see a R20 increase, bringing the monthly amount to R530.

Beneficiaries receiving the Child Support Grant Top-Up will see a total of R780 per month (R530 + R250).
