How To Do A Sassa Status Check
There are several ways to check the approval status of your grant application. You can visit your local Sassa office to inquire in person. Sassa will also send you a written notification about the decision.
Local Sassa office staff are instructed to advise you on the appeals process if your application for a Sassa grant is rejected.
Additionally, if you applied online for certain grants, you may be able to check the application status through the Sassa website using your reference number.
The application date is considered the date you submit all required documents and meet Sassa’s requirements.
Sassa Grant Payments
Sassa offers several convenient ways to collect your grant:
- Direct Bank Deposit: Have your grant deposited directly into your bank account, avoiding queues and saving time. (Requires a bank account and Sassa registration)
- Retail Stores: Collect your grant in cash at Pick n Pay, Shoprite, Boxer, Usave, or Checkers nationwide using your Sassa card.
- Mobile Cash Pay Points: Receive your grant at designated mobile cash pay points during specific hours. (Not available for SRD grant beneficiaries)
The exact amount of your grant payment will depend on the specific grant you receive. These grants are usually paid in the first week of the month, excluding weekends and public holidays.
