The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) distributes Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grants to millions of financially disadvantaged people in South Africa. 

Several circumstances could lead to an R370 grant applicant no longer wanting an SRD grant payment. This includes whether they no longer require the grant or meet the eligibility criteria for the SRD grant

Should people not require the grant anymore, they can cancel their R370 grant application. 

How To Cancel R370 Grant Application 

  • Step 1: Go to the official SASSA website and find the "Cancel My Application" section.   
  • Step 2: Provide Your Details: Enter your ID and mobile numbers as registered with your SRD grant application.
  • Step 3: Verify Your Identity: You will receive an SMS with a 6-digit OTP (One-Time Pin) code. Enter this code to verify your identity.
  • Step 4: Confirm Cancellation: Follow the on-screen instructions to confirm your decision to cancel the grant application.

If your conditions changed so that you no longer need or qualify for the special Covid-19 Social Relief of Distress Grant, you may cancel your application by clicking on the button below.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the R370 grant, applicants must be South African citizens, permanent residents, or special permit holders.

They should not be receiving other government support like Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) benefits or National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) bursaries. Additionally, their bank account balance should be less than R624.

If you do not meet this eligibility criteria, you can cancel your R370 grant application.
