The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) requires all beneficiaries to provide their bank account details for the timely disbursement of social grants. This often comes after Sassa approves grant applications.
However, this process often involves a verification step to ensure the accuracy and security of the provided information.
Sassa announced the following:
The process of bank verification takes 3-5 days.
This means that once bank details are submitted, Sassa aims to verify them within 3 to 5 days.
Sassa advises applicants to email them at [email protected] or contact Sassa by calling 0800 60 10 11 if any assistance is needed with bank account verification. Should it not be verified after 5 days, applicants should contact Sassa as soon as they can.
Sassa explained, "The applicant's details go to the Department of Treasury; to the specific bank chosen by the applicant and when it is verified it then goes back to Treasury and lastly handed over to Sassa for payment purposes”.
Once Sassa verifies the bank details provided, payments would then be scheduled. Sassa advises beneficiaries to check their payment dates.
It's important to remember that SRD grants and permanent grants follow different Sassa payment schedules.

Sassa Grant Dates For Permanent Grants
Sassa permanent grants are usually distributed from the second day of the month. However, Sassa does not pay grants to beneficiaries on weekends and public holidays.
The agency publishes the Sassa grant dates on their website and social media pages.
Ensuring the accuracy of your bank account details is crucial for the smooth disbursement of your social grant. Providing incorrect or incomplete information can lead to delays or even rejection of your application.
