How Sassa Verifies SRD Grant Applications

When applying for an SRD grant, You will need to provide your details, such as your ID number, name, and surname, which will be sent to the Department of Home Affairs for validation.

In the next step, your ID number is checked against various databases. These include the South African Revenue Services (SARS), Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF), and National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) to assess your financial situation.

Both your ID number and mobile number undergo a fraud risk scoring process to verify the legitimacy of your application.

After all these checks are completed, Sassa will evaluate your application and decide whether to approve or deny the SRD grant.
