SRD Grant Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the SRD grant in 2025, applicants must meet the following criteria:

The SRD grant was initially introduced in 2020 as a temporary measure to assist unemployed individuals during the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite its temporary nature, it remains critical in alleviating financial distress for many households.

What to Do If Your SRD Grant Application Is Rejected

If your application is unsuccessful, you can appeal the decision through the Independent Tribunal for Social Assistance Appeals (ITSAA).

How to Submit an Appeal

  1. Visit the ITSAA platform.
  2. Submit a separate appeal for each rejected month.
  3. Allow 60–90 days for the appeal process.

The ITSAA’s decision is final, and successful applicants will receive an SMS notification. If you don’t receive an SMS after 90 days, you’re encouraged to check your appeal status online.
