Every month, the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) disburses permanent social grants to more than 18 million South Africans. Sassa is now in the process of making Sassa payments for Child grants.

Millions of South Africans rely on social grants provided by the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) to make ends meet. Child Sassa grants are now being paid for August 2024.

Permanent Grants distributed by Sassa include Older Persons pension grants, Disability grants, War Veterans grants, Care Dependency grants, Foster Child grants, Child Support grants, Child Support grant Top-Up and Grant-in-aid.

Here's the Sassa grant dates for August 2024:

There is no need to rush to withdraw cash on the first day. Once the money is in the account, it will remain there until it is needed. 

Child Sassa Grant Amounts

  • Care Dependency grant - R2,180
  • Foster Care grant - R1,180
  • Child Support grant - R530
  • Child Support grant (Top-up) - R530 + R250

Where To Collect Sassa Grant Payments For August

Sassa grant beneficiaries have two options for receiving their grants.

They can choose to have their Sassa grant automatically deposited into their bank account. This is the recommended option, as the money stays safe in the account until it's needed.

Alternatively, beneficiaries can collect their grants in cash from various locations, including ATMs, Pick n Pay stores, Checkers stores, Shoprite stores, and Boxer stores.
