Are you looking to start a career as a qualified artisan in the mining industry? Valterra Platinum is inviting unemployed South Africans to apply for its Engineering Learnership Programme (18.2 Unemployed), offering structured technical training and valuable workplace experience across a range of engineering trades.
Successful candidates will receive both theoretical and practical training, with the opportunity to earn a nationally recognised artisan qualification upon successful completion of the programme.

What the Learnership Offers
The programme combines structured classroom-based learning with practical workplace training, allowing learners to develop the technical knowledge and hands-on experience required to qualify as artisans.

- Learnership Electrician x 2
- Learnership Boilermaker x 1
- Mechanical Fitter x 2
- Rigger x 2
- Diesel Mechanic x 2
- Earthmoving Equipment Machinery x 1
- Auto Electrician x 2
- Millwright x 2
- Measurement Control & Instrumentation x 1
Valterra Platinum Learnership Requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Matric with Mathematics (not Mathematical Literacy), Physical Sciences and English, with a minimum pass mark of 40% in each subject.
- An N2 qualification or higher, with all four required subjects passed, including Mathematics and Engineering Science, in the relevant engineering discipline.
Alternatively, applicants may have:
- An NCV Level 4 qualification in the appropriate trade, with a minimum of 40% in all subjects.
Trade-Specific N2 Subjects
Applicants must also have the relevant trade theory subjects for the discipline they are applying for:
- Boilermaker: Plating/Welders Theory and Plating Structural & Steelwork Drawings.
- Electrician: Electrical Trade Theory and Industrial Electronics or Engineering Drawings.
- Diesel Mechanic: Diesel or Motor Trade Theory and Engineering Drawings.
- Mechanical Fitter: Fitting Trade Theory and Engineering Drawings.
- Instrument Mechanician: Instrument Trade Theory and Industrial Electronics.
- Auto Electrician: Motor Electrical Trade Theory and Industrial Electronics.
- Millwright: Electrical and Fitting Trade Theory, Engineering Drawings or Industrial Electronics.
- Rigger: Rigger Trade Theory and Engineering Theory.
- Heavy Equipment Mechanic: Diesel or Motor Trade Theory and Engineering Drawings.
Documents Required
Applicants must submit the following supporting documents with their application:
- An updated Curriculum Vitae (CV).
- Certified copies of all relevant qualifications.
- A copy of their South African ID.
- Applicants from host communities must also submit proof of residence stamped by the relevant tribal authority or municipality.
