The University of Mpumalanga (UMP) requires all its students to register at the beginning of every academic year. In order to secure placement in their chosen field of study, students will need to register.

New students, returning students, and masters and doctoral students have their own registration period. All students will be required to pay a registration fee in order to secure their placement in the programme.

New students who have been accepted into a programme will need to register within the specified registration period as space is limited. In the event that all available spaces for new students have been filled before the end of the registration period, registration for that specific programme will be closed.

Registration will be on a “first-come-first-served-basis”. Therefore, acceptance into a programme does not guarantee enrolment.

Registration will only be done online. Students may use their smartphone, laptop, tablet, or computer to register.

New students will need the following to register online:

South African Students:

  • Paid the minimum initial deposit due prior to registration and be financially cleared.
  • Uploaded all required documentation on the student portal under certificates seen - (ID, matric/senior certificate, academic record with statement of conduct).
  • Received letter confirming firm offer from Department of Student Admissions based on their final results.

International students:

In terms of the Immigration Act, international students must provide:

  1. Certified copy of passport
  2. A valid Study Permit
  3. Medical aid cover letter
  4. Police clearance
  5. SAQA certificate
  6. Admission letter
  7. Proof of initial payment or confirmation letter from sponsor.
  8. International students must pay 50% of their tuition fee before registration.

How To Register At UMP:

  1. Visit the registration portal.
  2. Insert your student number and user pin.
  3. Login to the portal and register for your chosen programme.

Students may also follow the step-by-step guide for online registration. The guide is available on the university website.
Those who experience difficulties with the online registration system may contact the university. Students may call the Call Centre at 013 002 0047/50 or send the university an email at [email protected].
