The 2024 matric exams concluded on 28 November 2024. During the 2024 matric exams, 727,121 full-time and 155,215 part-time candidates participated in the all important school leaving exams.

Minister Gwarube confirmed that the final results will be announced on 13 January 2025, with provincial education departments releasing results to candidates on 14 January 2025.

Initially, the Department of Basic Education (DBE) stated that matric exam results would be released on Thursday, 15 January, with candidates receiving their results on 16 January. However, the results will now be released a few days earlier.

Collecting Your Matric Exam Results

Learners are encouraged to collect their official statements of results directly from their schools or exam centres on the day.

These statements are essential for confirming the accuracy of personal details, such as names and identity numbers.

Any errors must be reported to the Department of Basic Education before 21 February 2025, to ensure that final certificates are correct.

Candidates who prefer to check their results online can do so on the Department’s website, which will be updated from 6:00 AM.

The process requires learners to provide their examination number for access.

It’s important to note that some results may not be immediately available due to technical issues.

In such cases, candidates should follow up with their schools or exam centres for assistance.

The DBE said queries related to missing results or other discrepancies should be submitted for investigation within 30 days of the release date.

Remark And Rechecking Matric Exams

Learners who are dissatisfied with their results can apply for a re-mark or re-check exam scripts.

Applications for these services can be made at schools, district offices, or online via the government’s e-services platform.

The deadline for matric remark and rechecking applications is 31 January 2025, with fees set at R116 per subject for re-marking and R29 per subject for re-checking.

Viewing of scripts is permitted only after a re-mark or re-check, at a cost of R220. Results of re-marked scripts are expected to be released from 14 March 2025.

Those looking to improve their marks further can register for the mid-year National Senior Certificate examinations rewrites which take place in May and June.

The deadline for registration for these exams is 7 February 2025. This opportunity is available to candidates who want to enhance specific subject results or complete any outstanding components of their exams.
