The University of South Africa (Unisa) has announced 2025 late applications. This gives individuals who want to further their studies at the country’s largest university a chance to secure their placement for the 2024 academic year.
Unisa uses an Open Distance e-Learning (ODeL) approach to education. This means that students study from home and don’t attend any in-person classes. In recent years, the institution has also begun conducting its examinations online.
This status as an ODeL institution makes Unisa an ideal choice for many individuals regardless of their personal circumstances, work commitments, or lifestyle.

How Unisa Applications Work
Unisa says the selection process in 2025 revolves around calculating a prospective student's individual points score. This score is derived from their final Grade 12 marks and other critical factors such as the school they attended, gender, socio-economic background, race, and more.
Before applicants can apply, they must ensure they meet both the statutory and college-specific admission requirements, including the required Academic Points Score (APS) for their chosen qualification.
The minimum APS score varies depending on the college and the specific qualification.
Applicants are encouraged to consult the admission requirements for each qualification they want.
