The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) will soon be closing the school transfer applications for the 2027 school year. This is done separately to Grade R, 1 and 8 school admission applications and is for Grades 2-7 and 9-12 admissions.

How WCED School Transfer Applications Work

School transfer applications in the Western Cape must be done at the school in which the parent/caregiver wishes to apply to or their nearest WCED office. Schools can only capture applications for their own school, but district officials can capture applications for multiple schools.

Parents and guardians will then need to submit the WCED application form and submit it, along with any relevant documents, at the school the child is transferring to or district office. The application form and documents can be submitted online, should the school avail that option.

Documents Required

  • The last school report card;
  • ID, birth certificate, passport, study permit or proof of application or police affidavit; and
  • Proof of address or police affidavit.

Applications will close on the 17th August 2026.
