As universities across South Africa prepare for the 2025 academic year, the University of South Africa (Unisa) has released their 2025 application dates. Unisa offers a variety of academic courses, from certificate courses to doctoral degrees with students from South Africa and other countries.
Unisa is a comprehensive university and their courses range across a spectrum of disciplines, including Law, Education, Business, and the Arts. If you're interested in studying at the university next year, here's everything you need to know about Unisa applications for 2025.
Unisa Application 2025 Dates
Unisa announced when their 2025 applications will open:
Undergraduate qualifications, Honours degrees and postgraduate diplomas will open from 21 August - 11 October 2024.
As for Master's and Doctoral qualifications, they will open from 2 September until 22 November 2024.
Unisa applications are done using Unisa's online application portal. While we wait for Unisa 2025 applications to open, applicants are advised to make sure they have their documents ready.
Documents Needed For Unisa Application
- Copy of school qualifications, i.e. a diploma, National Senior Certificate (NSC), etc.
- Copy of official tertiary academic records (if applicable)
- Copy of ID or passport depending on whether you are a South African citizen or international student
- Copy of marriage certificate or divorce certificate (if applicable)
Unisa uses an Open Distance e-learning (ODeL) approach to education, meaning students study from home and do not attend any in-person classes. In recent years, the institution has also begun conducting its examinations online.
