Every month, the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) pays millions of South Africans their Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grants. It's important for SRD grant beneficiaries to know when they can expect to receive their SRD grant payments.

SRD grant payments are made during the final week of the month after Sassa completed various verification checks. These verification checks seek to ensure only deserving individuals receive SRD grant payments.

Sassa SRD Grant Payment Dates For March 2025

Sassa said approved SRD grant applicants will receive SRD grant payments from 26 March until 29 March.

Payments (for clients who approved for the month of March 2025) will be processed from 26-29 March 2025.

SRD grant beneficiaries are encouraged to complete an SRD Grant Status Check to see if they have been approved for payments in March. This SRD grant status check will also inform you of the exact date you can expect your SRD grant payment in your bank account.

How To Do A Sassa SRD Status Check

First, visit the Sassa SRD status website for the SRD status check section. You will then be asked to fill in your ID number, as well as the cell phone number that you used when you submitted your grant application.

Hereafter, you will be able to check the progress of your grant by doing a Sassa status check. For security, you will receive a one time pin. You must enter the OTP to see your Sassa grant payment status.

You will also be able to see your grant payment date.

SRD Grant Extended Until 2026

Finance Minister, Enoch Godongwana, presented the Annual Budget Speech and announced that the SRD grant, which was set to come to an end in March 2025, will be extended for another year. Now, the government has set March 2026 as its end date.

The COVID19 Social Relief of Distress (SRD), in its current form, will be extended by a year to end March 2026. R35.2 billion is allocated for this purpose.

Beneficiaries of the SRD grant will receive R370 for the month of March. Sassa has made it clear that funds will take about 2 to 3 working days to reflect in the grantholder’s bank account after the Sassa SRD payment has been processed.
