Millions of people are set to receive social grant payments from Sassa in October 2024. Sassa has commenced with grant payments.

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has begun making October 2024 social grant payments. 

Sassa distributes more than 18 million permanent grant payments monthly which include the Older Persons pension grant, Disability grant, War Veterans grant, Care Dependency grant, Foster Child grant,Child Support grant, Child Support grant Top-Up and Grant-in-aid.

Sassa Dates For October 2024

Sassa announced the following Sassa payment dates for social grants in October 2024:

  • Older Persons Grant - 2 October 2024
  • Disability Grants - 3 October 2024
  • Children's Grants - 4 October 2024

There is no need to rush to withdraw cash on the first day. Once the money is in the account, it will remain there until it is needed. 

Sassa Grants Increasing In October 2024 

Millions of grant beneficiaries will receive increased grant payments in October 2024.  During the annual budget speech, the Minister of Finance announced small grant payment adjustments to protect their value against inflation.

The first increase for 2024 was implemented in April, and the second will take effect in October.

Sassa Grant Increases for October 2024

The Old-Age Pension will rise by R10, bringing the monthly amount to R2,190 for recipients aged 60 to 74, and to R2,210 for those 75 and older. Both the Disability Grant and Care Dependency Grant will increase by R10, reaching R2,190 per month.

The War Veterans Grant will also go up by R10, with the new total being R2,210 monthly.

Which Sassa Grants Won’t Be Increased in October 2024

The Child Support grant, Foster Care grant and the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant will not be increased in October 2024. 

How Much Sassa Grants Will Be For October 2024

  • Older Persons grant - R2,190
  • Older Persons (75 years and older) - R2,210
  • Disability grant - R2,190
  • War Veterans grant - R2,210
  • Child Support Grant - R530
  • Care Dependency grant - R2,190
  • Foster Care grant - R1,180
  • Child Support grant (Top-up) - R530 + R250
  • SRD Grant - R370

Where To Collect Your Sassa Grant

Sassa beneficiaries can choose to have their Sassa grant be paid directly to their bank account.

Sassa grant beneficiaries can also collect their Sassa social grants at several payment points. These payment points include ATMs and retail stores such as Pick n Pay, Checkers, Shoprite and Boxer.
