Sassa Grants For May 2024 Now Being Paid

Beneficiaries of social grants will begin racing May 2024 payments this week. Sassa has begun the process of paying social grants.

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has begun social grant payments. More than 18 million are set to receive grant payments in May 2024.

Sassa distributes several different permanent grants to people living in South Africa. These include the Older Persons pension grant, Disability grant, War Veterans grant, Care Dependency grant, Foster Child grant, Child Support grant, Child Support grant Top-Up and Grant-in-aid.

While Sassa’s grant payment policy aims to pay grants on consecutive days, this will not be possible in May 2024. Only beneficiaries of older persons will be paid this week while beneficiaries of other social grants will be paid next

Sassa Grant Payment Dates For May 2024 

Older Persons Grant - Friday, 3 May 

Disability Grants - Monday, 6 May 

Children's Grants - Tuesday, 7 May

Sassa assured beneficiaries that once their grant has been paid, it will remain in their accounts. Beneficiaries can withdraw funds when they need. 

There is no need to withdraw cash on the first day. Once the money is in the account, it will remain there until it is needed.
