It's Matric results time again! The IEB matric results will be first when they are released on the 12th January 2026. The Minister of Basic Education, will announce the national and provincial pass rate figures on the evening of the 12th January 2026.  Learners will receive their individual results the following day at around 12 noon.

Matric Results are calculated like this, your school tasks count as 25% of your mark and the end of year Final Matric Exam counts as 75%. Matric Results are available in a number of ways. You can get your Matric Results Online, at school, via cellphone, in the newspaper and using the MatricsMate app.

 


The Western Cape MEC for Education has praised a school in his province that went on a six year journey, improving their Matric pass rate from 40% to 100%.

 


Matrics across the country have received their final results and discovered if they have bachelor, diploma or higher certificate passes. But this year's class are going to have to wait longer than usual to find out if they have secured a place at university. 


There was much excitement in the room as the Basic Education Minister read out the top provincial performers for the 2025 Matric exams - with some familiar names battling it out for top spot. 


As well as celebrating the success of the top Matric students in the country, the Basic Education Department also compiles data on Matric exam performance of all schools in the country. The information is shared with the public in an annual report.


There was a modest increase in the national Matric pass rate for 2025 - but it did push the results to set a new record for South Africa's school leaving exams. It was also top prize for KZN as their Matric learners were the top performers in 2025.


Results are now available for Matric learners who wrote the IEB papers in 2025. Here's how IEB learners can collect their final Matric results. 


Independent school learners excelled again in the latest matric results, even though the performance was slightly lower than in previous years. 


The wait is almost over for the matric class of 2025! The Independent Examinations Board (IEB) has announced the official release date for this year’s matric results, marking a pivotal moment for thousands of learners across South Africa.


The release of matric results is an important milestone for learners at the end of their basic education journey. Checking your matric results is a simple process, especially if you have your ID number and examination number ready.


It's a tough time for the 2025 Matrics as they wait to hear how they performed in the final exams.  Dr Lauren Martin from SACAP explains that parents have a big role to play in supporting their teen through this time.
