The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) will continue to distribute the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant until March 2025 at least. This was confirmed by the President during the State Of The Nation Address.

It was also revealed that the SRD grant’s value will increase from R350 to R370 in April 2024.

While this news would have come as a welcomed relief for the millions of vulnerable people who rely on the grant, many are still unsure about when they will be paid.

Sassa has not yet confirmed the SRD grant payment dates for the rest of 2024 and 2025. However, the agency's grant payment policy provides us with a guide on when beneficiaries could expect their grant payments.

Predicting SRD Grant Payment Dates

To predict SRD grant payment dates, it's important to understand the Sassa grant payment policy. Sassa does not pay grants on public holidays or weekends. Therefore SRD Grant payments will not be on any weekends or public holidays.

When it comes to the SRD grant payments, payments were previously distributed during the final week of the month. This was done as Sassa conducts several verification checks to determine if a grant applicant meets the eligibility criteria for the grant.

Sassa previously explained that these verification checks were the reasons grants are paid at the end of the month.
