There are 26 public universities located across South Africa, and reports indicate that out of these institutions, 23 universities have received around 4.5 million applications for the 2024 academic year.

It is estimated that 210 000 students will enter universities for the first time in 2024. Enrollment figures at universities indicate that 35% of students will use distance learning while the remaining 65% will be on campus.

Tracking Your University Application

Most universities have an online portal where applicants can log in to check their application status. To begin the process, visit the university's official website and navigate to the admissions or applicant portal.

Use the login details that were provided to you during the application process. This may include a username, email address, student number or application reference number along with a password.

Once logged in, you will likely be directed to a dashboard or a specific page related to your application status. Look for a section that provides information about your application, such as whether it's under review, accepted, waitlisted, or denied.

Some universities may send email notifications regarding changes in your application status. Check your email inbox, including the spam or junk folder, for any updates from the university.

If you're having trouble accessing the online portal or if there's no information available, don't hesitate to contact the university's admissions office. They can assist and may give you information about your application status over the phone or through email.

Sometimes, the university may request additional documents or information to complete your application. Ensure that you have submitted all required documents and that there are no outstanding items.
