On a monthly basis, the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) distributes various social grants to vulnerable individuals
According to the Agency, almost 18 million individuals benefit from permanent social grants such as the Older Person grant, Disability grant, War Veterans grant, Care Dependency grant, Foster Child grant, Child Support grant, Child Support grant Top Up, and Grant-in-aid.

It is in such cases that they will need to make an application for the restoration of that grant within 30 days of its suspension.

Other reasons for grant lapses include changes in the recipient's financial situation, death, or migration to another country.
