The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has encouraged beneficiaries of the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant to conduct an SRD Status Check to determine their payment dates for March 2025.

Millions of South Africans rely on the SRD grant for financial support, and knowing the payment schedule is crucial for budgeting and planning.

How to Check Your SRD Grant Payment Status:

  1. Visit the SASSA SRD status website: Access the designated section for the SRD Status Check.
  2. Enter your details: Provide your ID number and the cellphone number used during the grant application.
  3. Verify your identity: Enter the One Time Pin (OTP) sent to your phone for security purposes.
  4. View your payment status: The website will display the progress of your application and the expected payment date.

SRD grant payments are made during the final week of the month after Sassa completed various verification checks. These verification checks seek to ensure only deserving individuals receive SRD grant payments.

Sassa has made it clear that funds will take about 2 to 3 working days to reflect in the grantholder’s bank account after the Sassa SRD payment has been processed.

The agency urged beneficiaries not to rush to withdraw the Sassa money on the first day it becomes available because once the money is paid, it will stay in your account.

Beneficiaries can also collect their Sassa social grants at several payment points. These payment points include ATMs and retail stores such as Pick n Pay, Checkers, Shoprite and Boxer.
