Nedbank is inviting applications for its Behavioural Economics Graduate Programme, offering graduates the opportunity to gain practical experience in behavioural science, research, data analysis and customer experience.
The programme is a one-year fixed-term graduate programme based in Sandton, Johannesburg. Graduates will work with behavioural economists and specialists across Nedbank to apply behavioural science to real business and client challenges.

What Does The Nedbank Graduate Programme Offer?
The Behavioural Economics Graduate Programme provides practical exposure to how behavioural science can be used to improve money management, customer experiences, products and services.
Graduates will develop skills in behavioural research, identifying behavioural challenges, designing interventions, experimentation, data analysis and stakeholder engagement.
The programme also provides an opportunity to learn how behavioural insights can be applied to communications, digital experiences, products and employee initiatives.
What Will Behavioural Economics Graduates Do?
Graduates will work on projects that apply behavioural science to real-world business and client challenges. Responsibilities may include:
- Identifying friction points and improving digital client journeys and onboarding experiences.
- Using behavioural insights to understand different customer behaviours and needs.
- Exploring how behavioural science and artificial intelligence can support personalised customer experiences.
- Developing and testing communications across channels such as SMS, email, call centres and mobile applications.
- Using customer and contextual information to help design more relevant interventions and solutions.
- Applying behavioural insights to employee performance, wellbeing, leadership and organisational culture initiatives.
- Supporting the development of customer value propositions, products and digital experiences.
- Turning research findings and project learnings into tools, case studies, workshops and resources for Nedbank teams.
Who Can Apply?
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be 18 years or older.
- Have a strong interest in behavioural economics and behavioural science.
- Have a clear criminal record.
- Have a clear credit record.
Qualification Requirements
A Master's degree in Economics, Psychology, Anthropology or a related Social Sciences field is advantageous.
Psychology graduates who intend to register with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) should note that they will need to complete their own tailored registration programme.
Skills And Competencies
Nedbank is looking for graduates with strong analytical and research abilities, critical thinking and data analysis skills. Candidates should also have good written communication, presentation and storytelling abilities.
Additional skills include stakeholder management, AI literacy, business knowledge, strategic thinking, innovation, planning and organising, networking and facilitating change.
