The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has opened applications for the March 2025 R370 grant payments.

If you require financial assistance in the form of a grant and meet the eligibility criteria for the R370 grant, then you must apply.

How to Apply for the R370 Sassa Grant

To apply for the SRD grant:

  1. Visit the official SRD grant website.
  2. Select your citizenship status at the bottom of the page ("South African ID Holder" or "Asylum Seeker/Special Permit Holder").
  3. Under the relevant section, click the yellow bar that says, "Click here to apply online."
  4. Enter your mobile number and click "Send SMS." Use the one-time pin (OTP) sent by Sassa to your phone for verification.
  5. Once verified, follow the on-screen instructions to complete your application.

Who Qualifies For The R370 Grant

To be eligible for the R370 Sassa grant, you must meet specific criteria. You must be a South African citizen aged between 18 and 60 years old.

R370 grant applicants must not receive other government support, such as Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) benefits or National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) bursaries

Applicant's monthly income must be below R624. In terms of the R370 grant, income refers to the money a beneficiary has in their bank account. This means that if a beneficiary has more than R624 in their bank account, they will not be approved for an R370 Grant payment.

How to Check Your Sassa Status

  1. Visit the Sassa SRD website.
  2. Go to the "Application Status" section.
  3. Enter your ID number and cell phone number.
  4. Verify your identity with an OTP.
  5. Review your application status.

Approved R370 grant applicants can receive their SRD grant payments directly into their bank accounts or collect the funds at participating supermarkets, including Pick n Pay, Boxer, Checkers, USave, Shoprite, OK, and Spar.
