How Much Sassa Grants Will Be For October 2024

The month of September is almost over with October on the horizon. It's important for Sassa beneficiaries to know how much their Sassa grant payment will be in October.

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has confirmed how much social grant beneficiaries can expect to receive for their social grants. Millions of people are set to receive Sassa grant payments in October 2024.

Grants distributed by Sassa include the Older Persons pension grant, Disability grant, War Veterans grant, Care Dependency grant, Foster Child grant, Child Support grant, Child Support grant Top-Up and Grant-in-aid. Sassa is also responsible for the Social Relief of Distress grant, which we know as the SRD grant or R370 Sassa grant.

For October, Sassa grant beneficiaries will see a boost in their Sassa payment as a Sassa increase is set to be implemented on 1 October.

Upcoming Sassa Increase

Finance Minister, Enoch Godongwana, announced the following Sassa grant increases during his Budget Speech:

Grant October Increase
Old Age (under 75 years old) R10
Old Age (over 75 years old) R10
Child Support -
Disability R10
Foster Care -
War Veterans R10
Care Dependency R10
Child Support Grant Top-Up R10

Sassa Grant Payment Values For October 2024

Older Persons grants will be R2,190 while Older Persons grants for people 75 years and older will be R2,210.

Disability grants will be R2,190, War Veterans grant will be R2,210, Care Dependency grant will be R2,190 and the Foster Care grant will be R1,180.

The Child support Grant will be R530 with the Child Support Grant Top-up being R270 and the SRD grant payment for October 2024 will be R370.

Sassa Payment Dates For October 2024

Sassa usually pays permanent social grants in the first week of the month, starting on the second working day of the month. It’s important to remember that Sassa grant payments don't take place on weekends and public holidays.

Sassa grant payments for October will therefore commence on the 2 October. Sassa has said that there is no need to rush to withdraw the Sassa money on the first day because once the money is paid, it will stay in your bank account.

Older Persons Grant and other linked grants will be paid on 2 October. Disability Grants and other linked grants will be paid on the 3 October and Children's Grants and other linked grants will be paid on 4 October.

Sassa beneficiaries can choose to have their Sassa grant be paid directly to their bank account.

Sassa Grant beneficiaries can also collect their Sassa social grants at several payment points. These payment points include ATMs and retail stores such as Pick n Pay, Checkers, Shoprite and Boxer stores.
