During this year’s Annual Budget Speech, Minister of Finance, Enoch Godongwana revealed that social grants distributed by the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) will be increased for 2025. These Sassa grant increases will be implemented for April 2025 payments.

Sassa Grant Increases April 2025
For 2025/26, R284.7 billion will be allocated towards social grants. The Minister announced the following Sassa grant increases:
- The Old age grant will increase by R130
- War veterans grant will increase by R130
- Disability grant will increase by R130
- Foster care grant will increase by R70
- Care dependency grant will increase by R130
- Child support grant will increase by R30
- The grant-in-aid will increase by R30
How Much 2025 Sassa Grant Payments Will Be For April 2025
With the Sassa increase in place, Sassa grant payments for April will be:
- Old age grant - R2310
- War veterans grant - R2330
- Disability grant - R2330
- Foster care grant - R1250
- Care dependency grant - R2310
- Child support grant - R560
- The grant-in-aid - R560
Sassa Grant Payment Dates For April 2025
Sassa distributes over 18 million permanent grant payments with Sassa grant payment dates for April 2025 now having been confirmed:
- Older persons - 3 April 2025
- Disability Grants - 4 April 2025
- Children's grants – 5 April 2025
Grant beneficiaries with expired Sassa gold cards can collect their April Sassa grant payment at a Post Office branch. There are just over 540 Post Office Branches around the country.
Beneficiaries can also use the new Postbank Black Card or their personal bank account cards to withdraw their grant payments at participating retail stores.
