How Much Sassa Grants Will Be After Increases For 2025

During this year’s Annual Budget Speech, Minister of Finance, Enoch Godongwana revealed how much Sassa grant beneficiaries can expect to be paid in 2025. Sassa grant payments play a crucial role in alleviating financial hardship and ensuring that social welfare reaches those in need.

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) provides millions of grants each month to South Africans in need of financial support. The Sassa grant values for 2025 have now been officially confirmed.

On Wednesday afternoon, Finance Minister, Enoch Godongwana, presented the Annual Budget Speech. During this, he reveals the government's plan for collecting and spending money to support priorities in the country such as social support, education, healthcare, infrastructure, etc.

The Budget Speech seeks to strike a balance between fostering economic growth and providing support for the most vulnerable in society, even with constrained resources.

The Minister also announced how much Sassa grant beneficiaries can expect to receive for their Sassa grants, after they have been increased. This year will see only one Sassa grant increase in April.

Sassa Grant Increase 2025

For 2025/26, R284.7 billion will be allocated towards social grants. The Minister announced the following Sassa grant increases:

  • The Old age grant will increase by R130
  • War veterans grant will increase by R130
  • Disability grant will increase by R130
  • Foster care grant will increase by R70
  • Care dependency grant will increase by R130
  • Child support grant will increase by R30
  • The grant-in-aid will increase by R30

How Much 2025 Sassa Grant Payments Will Be

With the Sassa increase in place, Sassa grant payments for April and coming months will be:

  • Old age grant - R2310 
  • War veterans grant - R2330
  • Disability grant - R2330
  • Foster care grant - R1250
  • Care dependency grant - R2310
  • Child support grant - R560
  • The grant-in-aid - R560

Several grants will be increased again in October 2025. These grants will increase by R10

  • Old Age grant - R2320
  • Old Age grant (over 75) - R2320 + R20
  • War Veterans grant - R2320 + R20
  • Disability grant - R2320
  • Care dependency grant - R2320

The Department of Social Development recently revealed that over R66.4 billion was transferred to Sassa to administer social grants.
