Sassa is gearing up for social grant payment for April 2025. Here's the payment dates for Sassa grants.

Millions of people living in South Africa receive grants from the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) grant payment dates have been confirmed. 

Sassa distributes over 18 million permanent grant payments, including the Older Persons pension grant, Disability grant, War Veterans grant, Care Dependency grant, Foster Child grant, Child Support grant, Child Support grant Top-Up and Grant-in-aid. 

Sassa Grant Payment Dates For April 2025

  • Older persons - 3 April 2025
  • Disability Grants - 4 April 2025
  • Children's grants – 5 April 2025

Sassa Grant Increases

Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana recently announced the Sassa grant increases for 2025 which will be implemented in April. Here’s how much Sassa grants will be in April.

  • Old age grant - R2315
  • War Veterans grant - R2335
  • Disability grant - R2315
  • Foster care grant - R1250
  • Care dependency grant - R2315
  • Child support grant - R560
  • The grant-in-aid - R560

Sassa Gold Cards Expiring In April

Millions of gold cards will expire on Thursday, 20 March 2025 and beneficiaries will not be able to use the Sassa gold cards to access their April 2025 grant payments. 

Postbank confirmed that despite the expiry of gold cards, grant payments will proceed uninterrupted. 

All social grant beneficiaries will continue to be paid, including all social grant beneficiaries who have not been able to get their black cards. 

Grant beneficiaries with expired Sassa gold cards can collect their April Sassa grant payment at a Post Office branch. There are just over 540 Post Office Branches around the country. 

Post Office grant payments are available to grant beneficiaries who have not yet replaced their Sassa gold cards, asylum seekers and Postbank grant beneficiaries. 

Beneficiaries who already have Postbank black cards must please use their card through ATMs and retailers to access their funds. 

Postbank warned that beneficiaries with black cards will not be assisted at Post Office Branches.
