Thinking about enrolling in a coaching course? If the answer is yes, then the South African College of Applied Psychology (SACAP) may be the institution for you.
Established in 1997, SACAP is an independent provider of Applied Psychology education. They offer a wide range of registered and accredited courses, including various coaching courses.
Sometimes, psychology can seem a bit intimidating due to the stigmas attached to the discipline, which makes coaching perfect as mental health still plays a role. Not only that, coaching is accessible.
SACAP offers the following courses in coaching:
- Coach Practitioner Programme (Short Learning Programme)
- Advanced Coach Practitioner Programme (Short Learning Programme)
- Postgraduate Diploma in Coaching
In a conversation with The Careers Portal, Dr Jacklyn Lotter, the Academic Dean of SACAP, said:
I think the prominence of coaches has really been elevated and escalated over the years. I think coaches have a critical role to play in the working world, in the business world.
Coaches help individuals become the best versions of themselves, whether that be in a personal setting or in a workplace or business.
Lotter explains that although coaches and psychologists perform very different roles, coaching is more and more becoming something accessible and thought after
"particularly in the corporate and business world".
This shows that businesses can benefit from working with a coach and that there is a need for them as some corporate cultures are influenced by coaches. Many in government and large corporations have started to adopt the coaching culture, according to SACAP's Academic Dean.
