The University of Cape Town, which is one of South Africa's most popular universities, provides students with a range of courses for undergraduate and postgraduates. They also provide short courses, for students interested in enrolling.

In 1829 a high school for boys, known as the South African College, was founded. The College developed into a fully-fledged university during the period of 1880 to 1900, thanks to increased funding from private sources and the government. This College would eventually become known as the University of Cape Town.

UCT is a top-ranked university in South Africa and provides a range of qualifications and programmes to their students. The University offers undergraduate, postgraduate, distance and short course programmes.

UCT offers the following short courses which are powered through GetSmarter:

These short courses are mostly done online, which allows for students to learn at their own pace and according to their own timetable. UCT also has a summer school which runs for three weeks in January each year. 

Students are also offered the option of attending a Winter School in July as well as year-round webinars, short courses, workshops and lectures.
