The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) provides the NSFAS bursary which offers to cover all a student needs. Applying for NSFAS can be complicated and confusing and keeping up with your NSFAS status is important.
The "Registration Received" status is a crucial step in the NSFAS funding process. Here's what it means and what you need to do about it.
'Registration Received' NSFAS Status Meaning
A “registration received” NSFAS status means that NSFAS has received your registration from the institution and you will soon be reaping the benefits of NSFAS funding.
Before students receive a “registration received '' NSFAS status, they would have had a provisionally funded status.
While NSFAS can confirm you are deserving of a bursary, they will only authorise payments once they receive your registration from your university or TVET college. This is why students get a “registration received” NSFAS status when this has occurred.
Once you receive this NSFAS status, you gave full approval for NSFAS funding and once your status changes to "Funding Approved" or "Payment Processing," NSFAS will start disbursing funds.
What Should I Do?
Seeing that your NSFAS application has been approved and NSFAS has received your registration data, you will then be asked to submit banking details. This is so that your institution will know where to disburse your NSFAS allowance payments.
NSFAS funding includes tuition fees and registration. Students will also receive NSFAS allowances for accommodation, transport and learning materials.
Applicants are urged to continuously check their NSFAS status to keep up-to-date with the progress of their NSFAS application.
