NSFAS provides financial help through study bursaries to deserving students at TVET colleges and public universities. Here's how to apply for a NSFAS bursary.

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) administers the NSFAS bursary which is geared towards students from poor and working class backgrounds.

NSFAS funding covers the cost of registration, tuition as well as NSFAS allowances for learning material, food, personal care, transport or accommodation.

How to apply for NSFAS funding

It’s as easy as 1,2,3 and even better, your NSFAS application form is online using the NSFAS student portal called myNSFAS. Follow the below steps to apply for NSFAS:

  1. Create a myNSFAS account
  2. Click on the ‘Apply for NSFAS’ tab to update your personal information
  3. Upload your application supporting documents
  4. Submit your application

It is very important that during the NSFAS application, an applicant provides their correct ID number, name(s) and surname as reflected in the ID document.
