How SRD grant appeals work

Appeals are handled externally to Sassa and is instead done through the Independent Tribunal for Social Assistance Appeals (ITSAA). Sassa does however re-evaluate R350 grant applications every month to ensure the grant applicant is still in need of support.

According to Sassa, the ITSAA makes use of many databases to verify information provided by applicants who submit an appeal in order to verify their eligibility for the grant. The databases are used to confirm income information and personal information as well.

After the Independent Tribunal has processed your appeal, you will be informed of the outcome of your appeal electronically within 60 to 90 days after you have submitted your appeal.

The R350 grant is financial assistance distributed by the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) to unemployed people between the ages of 18 and 59 years old living in the country.
