The Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant, more commonly known as the R350 grant is financial assistance distributed by the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) to unemployed people between the ages of 18 and 59 years old living in the country.
In order to apply for the R350 grant, applicants must complete and submit an application on the Sassa SRD website. The applications are then considered and a decision is provided to the applicant.
If Sassa rejects your R350 grant application then you may submit an appeal if you disagree with Sassa's decision. Appeals must be submitted to the Independent Tribunal for Social Assistance Appeals (ITSAA).
Here Is How To Submit Your R350 Grant Appeal For June 2023
- Step 1: Visit The ITSAA Website
- Step 2: Enter Your Identification Number
- Step 3: Enter The Cell Phone Number You Used During The Application Process
- Step 4: Click Send “Pin”
- Step 5: Once you receive the pin, you will be required to insert it and click “Submit”
- Step 6: Select the month that you are appealing for
- Step 7: Secret the drop-down arrow to choose the reason for your appeal application from the options provided
- Step 8: Click “Submit” to complete the appeal application process
Sassa re-evaluates R350 grant applications every month to ensure the grant applicant is still in need of support.
According to Sassa, the ITSAA makes use of many databases to verify information provided by applicants who submit an appeal in order to verify their eligibility for the grant. The databases are used to confirm income information and personal information as well.
After the Independent Tribunal has processed your appeal, you will be informed of the outcome of your appeal electronically within 60 to 90 days after you have submitted your appeal.
The ITSAA's decision is the final decision but if you are not satisfied with it then you may approach the High Court for judicial review. This must done within a period of 180 days.
