The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has confirmed its 2025 application dates for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) college students.
NSFAS provides comprehensive bursaries and student loans to deserving learners enrolled in approved courses at universities and TVET colleges. This includes money for tuition and registration fees as well as several allowances for food, accommodation and learning materials.
While applications are open for students wanting to start their studies at the beginning of the 2025 academic year, NSFAS has several application periods for TVET College students.
NSFAS TVET College Application Dates
TVET college programmes don’t necessarily begin in January and end in December. They can commence at different times during the academic year.
NSFAS TVET College application periods are closely aligned with the TVET college academic calendars. This allows students to apply for funding when they begin their studies.

How TVET College Students Can Apply For NSFAS Funding
Students must submit NSFAS applications online. NSFAS confirmed that the TVET walk-in applications will not be available in 2025.
Unlike in previous academic years, NSFAS will not open the TVET Walk-in applications in 2025.
The 2025 NSFAS application period remains the same and all funding applications must be made using the myNSFAS portal.
NSFAS called on students to ensure they submit their applications and not only create a myNSFAS profile.
The financial aid scheme also advises students to apply for the relevant academic cycle in which they intend to register.
It is important to note that a student should apply for the relevant academic cycle which they intend to enrol in.
