The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has confirmed its 2025 application dates for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) college students.
NSFAS provides comprehensive bursaries and student loans to deserving learners enrolled in approved courses at universities and TVET colleges. This includes money for tuition and registration fees as well as several allowances for food, accommodation and learning materials.
Different Application Dates For NSFAS TVET Colleges
NSFAS TVET College application periods are closely aligned with the academic calendar. This allows students to apply for funding when they begin their studies.
The financial aid scheme also advises students to apply for the relevant academic cycle in which they intend to register.
It is important to note that a student should apply for the relevant academic cycle which they intend to enrol in.
NSFAS 2025 TVET College Application Dates
- Trimester 2 opens on 12 May 2025 and closes on 23 May 2025
- Semester 2 opens from 14 July 2025 and closes on 31 July 2025
- Trimester 3 opens on 8 September 2025 and closes on 19 September 2025
Students must submit NSFAS applications online. NSFAS confirmed that the TVET walk-in applications will not be available in 2025.
Unlike in previous academic years, NSFAS will not open the TVET Walk-in applications in 2025,.
The 2025 NSFAS application remains the same and all funding applications must be made using the myNSFAS portal.
"The method of application for all 2025 remaining cycles will remain the same, meaning the students will apply for themselves online through the NSFAS website," explained NSFAS.
NSFAS called on students to ensure they submit their applications and not only create a myNSFAS profile.
New applicants should also be reminded to not only create a profile and consider themselves to have applied but should continue with the process of completing the application until the application is submitted.
NSFAS 2025 Applications
NSFAS 2025 applications are currently open for everyone and will close on 15 December 2024. These applications are for university and TVET colleges who will commence with their studies at the start of 2025.
new applicants or students who have had a gap in funding intending to study funded programmes for the annual, semester 1 and trimester 1 academic cycles must apply during the current national NSFAS applications window
Grade 12 learners are reminded that matric results are not required when applying for NSFAS funding.
