The University of South Africa (Unisa) confirmed its 2025 registration dates. This information is critical to individuals planning to further their education at Unisa during the 2025 academic year.

Unisa uses an Open Distance e-Learning (ODeL) approach to education. This means that students study from home and don’t attend any in-person classes. In recent years, the institution has also begun conducting its examinations online.

This status as an ODeL institution makes Unisa an ideal choice for many individuals regardless of their personal circumstances, work commitments, or lifestyle.

Unisa 2025 Registration Dates

Registration for Unisa undergraduate qualifications, honours degrees, and postgraduate diplomas will be open from 8 January to 21 February 2025 for semester modules and from 8 January to 31 March 2025 for year modules.

Master's and doctoral students will also be able to register between 8 January to 31 March 2025, although some exceptions may apply.

Applications and registrations for Short Learning Programmes will be available earlier, from 10 January to 15 March 2024.

How To Register At Unisa

The Unisa registration process requires students to follow several steps to secure their spot at the country’s largest university.

Step 1: Find your qualification & choose your modules

Step 2: Calculate your study & other fees

Step 3: Complete & submit your registration

Step 4: Pay your study fees

Step 5: Prepare For Your Studies

Only applicants who have received and accepted an offer of placement may register. This includes new applicants and current Unisa students who have applied for admission to a new qualification.

Returning students can register for the 2025 academic year during the designated registration period. However, they must have received the necessary registration details from the university.

Unisa fees depend on the qualification, number of modules, and additional factors. These include prescribed student fees, registration costs, and miscellaneous fees for supplementary study materials.

All required fees must be paid into Unisa’s official bank account using the correct reference number to finalise registration. Payments must be made before the registration closing date.

Once registration is confirmed, students must log in to myUnisa student portal. This platform provides access to essential study materials, including tutorial letters, ensuring students are fully equipped for their studies.

Unisa has reiterated the importance of following all registration and payment procedures to avoid delays in the enrolment process.
