The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has begun paying grants for September 2024. More than 18 million people will receive permanent grant payments during the first week of the new month.

Sassa provides social grants to millions of financially vulnerable individuals ensuring that they do not face extreme poverty. These grants include the Older Persons pension grant, Disability grant, War Veterans grant, Care Dependency grant, Foster Child grant, Child Support grant, Child Support grant Top-Up and Grant-in-aid.

Sassa Payment Dates For September 2024

  • Older Persons Grant - 3 September 2024
  • Disability Grants - 4 September 2024
  • Children's Grants - 5 September 2024

Sassa has clarified that social grants will not be disbursed on public holidays or weekends. If the second day of the month falls on a non-business day, the payment will be made on the subsequent weekday.

In September, beneficiaries can expect to receive their grants on consecutive days, ensuring there are no delays.

How Much Sassa Grant Payments For September Will Be

  • Older Persons grant - R2,180
  • Older Persons (75 years and older) - R2,200
  • Disability grant - R2,180
  • War Veterans grant - R2,200
  • Care Dependency grant - R2,180
  • Foster Care grant - R1,180
  • Child Support grant - R530
  • Child Support grant (Top-up) - R530 + R250

Sassa has also emphasised that beneficiaries are not obligated to collect their funds immediately. The money will remain in their accounts until needed.

There is no need to rush to withdraw cash on the first day. Once the money is in the account, it will remain there until it is needed.

Sassa grant beneficiaries have two options for receiving their grants.

They can choose to have their Sassa grant automatically deposited into their bank account. This is the recommended option, as the money stays safe in the account until it's needed.

Alternatively, beneficiaries can collect their grants in cash from various locations, including ATMs, Pick n Pay stores, Checkers stores, Shoprite stores, and Boxer stores.
