The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has confirmed the final Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant payment dates for 2024.
Sassa SRD grant payments are usually made in the final week of the month, after verification checks have been completed. However, with the festive season coming up, Sassa has revealed that there will be a change in the SRD grant payment policy.
It's also important to remember that Sassa doesn't make SRD grant payments on weekends and public holidays.
Final SRD Grant Payment Dates Announced for 2024
Sassa has confirmed that SRD grant payments for approved beneficiaries in November 2024 will be processed between 25 November 2024 and 30 November 2024.
With the last week of December including Christmas, Boxing Day and New Years Day, Sassa's spokesperson, Paseka Letsatsi, has said that beneficiaries can expect SRD grants to be paid earlier.
December 2024 SRD grant payments are set to be paid to approved grant applicants between 17 December and 23 December 2024.
Beneficiaries are urged to check their SRD status on the official SRD website to determine the exact date their grant will reflect in their bank accounts.
How to Verify Your SRD Grant Status
Sassa has reminded SRD grant recipients to verify their payment status online to ensure they are approved for the payment cycle.
By visiting the SRD website and completing a status check, beneficiaries can access the precise date when their payments will be disbursed.
Grant recipients are encouraged to stay informed and check their status regularly to avoid delays or confusion.
Will You Receive An SRD Grant Payment?
When applying for an SRD grant, applicants provide their details such as ID number, name, and surname, which are sent to the Department of Home Affairs for validation.
In the next step, applicants’ ID numbers are checked against various databases. These include the South African Revenue Services (SARS), Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF), and National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) to assess your financial situation.
Both your ID number and mobile number undergo a fraud risk scoring process to verify the legitimacy of your application.
After all these checks are completed, Sassa will evaluate your application and decide whether to approve or deny the SRD grant application.
