Registrations for the Second Chance Matric Programme for 2025 will soon close, on 7 February 2025. This is an amazing opportunity to improve your matric results with assistance and you should register as soon as you can.

Whether you fell short in previous attempts or need to upgrade specific subjects, the Second Chance Matric Programme provides the chance to rewrite exams and unlock a brighter future.

Through the SCMP, the Department of Basic Education (DBE) provides learners with comprehensive support, including face-to-face classes, online programmes, and broadcasts on television and radio.

The Second Chance Matric Programme is a matric rewrite programme that was established in 2016 for learners who would like to improve their results or eventually complete their matric qualification on a part-time basis.

Additionally, matric candidates receive free government-issued resource packs to aid their exam preparation.

How to Register

  1. Visit Your Nearest District Office: Bring your ID, statement of results, and school reports.
  2. Online Registration: For Senior Certificate candidates, visit the Second Chance Matric Programme website.
  3. Department of Basic Education (DBE): Apply in person at any DBE office.

Matric Rewrite vs Second Chance Matric Programme: Is There A Difference?

The matric rewrite gives candidates the chance to rewrite one or more failed subjects

On the other hand, the Second Chance Matric Programme is not limited to those who failed their matric exams. It goes even further to also include those who dropped out of school or could not complete their matric for various reasons.

The programme offers a more comprehensive approach to matric rewrites through various revision opportunities available in the form of physical classes, online and radio lessons.

This comprehensive approach is particularly useful for adults and out-of-school learners who want to achieve their matric qualification.

With the Second Chance Matric Programme, you can study at your own pace with part-time options, access valuable resources and guidance and overcome past challenges.
