The College of Cape Town is a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) College which offers a variety of courses. It is one of the top public TVET colleges under the Department of Higher Education.

The college consists of eight campuses which offer accredited career-orientated vocational and occupational programmes. Students are equipped with the theory of their course as well as practical skills which prepare them for their chosen careers.

Before applying for any course, it is important that students check whether they meet the admission requirements. This will ensure students apply for courses they are eligible for. 

Each course has its own admission criteria, however, here are the general requirements for admission:

  • Many courses will require students to have completed Grade 12, however, some courses accept students who have finished Grade 9. 
  • A copy of their ID or birth certificate.
  • Passport number (International students only)
  • An email address that is reliable, will be used for communication with the college.

Students may visit the college website to view the specific admission requirements for each course. Admission criteria show students the level of education needed to complete the course. 

Certain courses may also require students to have passed Mathematics and English at school. These courses include furniture making, civil engineering and building construction, multidisciplinary drawing office practice, etc.
